In short: We provide structural engineering for commercial and industrial projects across Greater Melbourne and Victoria: new structures, fit-outs, industrial sheds, mezzanine floors and site hoardings. Send your plans, site details and timeline and we'll reply with a fixed price, usually within a few business hours.
Commercial and industrial projects run on tighter schedules and stricter compliance than residential work. We provide structural solutions for offices, warehouses, retail fit-outs and industrial facilities, scoped and documented so your builder can price and build from them without delays.
Many projects involve older warehouses and commercial buildings, so they often start with checking what the existing structure can actually carry before anything new is designed.
What's included
- Structural design for commercial buildings and fit-outs
- Industrial shed and warehouse structural design
- Mezzanine floor engineering, including load checks on existing structures
- Capacity assessments for new equipment, storage or openings
- Hoarding structure design for construction sites
Who this is for
Business owners fitting out or extending commercial premises, developers, and builders delivering industrial or retail projects who need structural documentation on schedule.
Do you need an engineer for a mezzanine floor?
Yes. A mezzanine adds load to the existing slab and structure, so it needs structural design for the frame and connections, a check that the existing floor and footings can carry the new loads, and usually a building permit. We can often design the mezzanine to work within the existing slab, or specify strengthening where it can't.
What does a structural engineer do on a commercial fit-out?
Checks that new loads (equipment, storage racking, partitions, and new openings in walls or slabs) can be carried by the existing structure, designs any new steel or concrete, and documents it to Australian Standards for your builder and building surveyor.
Working to your program
Commercial projects run to fixed programs, so we agree scope, price and delivery dates up front and stay available to your builder and surveyor through construction. We answer their questions quickly during construction, so the program isn't held up waiting on engineering.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Installing racking or heavy equipment without checking the slab
- Ordering a mezzanine kit before confirming the floor can carry it
- Leaving structural design until late in the program
- Cutting new openings in walls or slabs without engineering

What affects the cost of commercial structural engineering?
Every project is quoted individually. The main factors are:

- New construction or alterations to an existing building
- Whether the existing structure's capacity must be assessed
- How many consultants need to be coordinated
- Your program and deadlines
- Site visits required

We hold a 5.0 rating on Google. Here's a sample — you can read every review on our Google Business Profile.
“Had the pleasure of dealing with Sal and the wonderful team. Always prompt, friendly and efficient in answering every question I had and providing documentation / engineering I required for my surveyor. Even after payment was made on final works, I had my surveyor come back to me and request changes. Sal and the team did these for me lightning fast. No problem was too big or too hard for these guys. They are awesome and I will definitely recommend and use them again.”
“Prem and the team were fantastic to deal with. Quick turn around with detailed knowledge to solve our mezzanine load rating.”

Commercial & Industrial Structural Design FAQs
Do you handle mezzanine floor engineering for existing warehouses?
Yes. We assess the existing structure's load capacity and design the new mezzanine to work within it, or specify the reinforcement needed.
Can you check if an existing floor can take new equipment?
Yes. We assess the capacity of existing slabs, floors and framing for new equipment, storage racking or changes of use, and design strengthening if it's needed.
Can you design hoarding structures for a construction site?
Yes, we design hoarding structures compliant with council and WorkSafe requirements for construction sites.
How much does commercial structural engineering cost?
It depends on the scope and the structure. Send us your plans and timeline and we'll reply with a fixed price, usually within a few business hours.
How do you handle tight commercial construction timelines?
We agree a delivery date at quote stage and hold to it, and stay available to answer builder and surveyor questions quickly during construction.
Can you work with our architect and builder?
Yes. We coordinate directly with your architect, builder and building surveyor so the structural design fits the rest of the documentation.
